Hey everybody, I know you’re all recovering from inventory (I know I am), so I will try to keep this brief. We received our preseason hard-goods order from Mammut a few days ago. “Hard-goods” basically means climbing stuff; it’s a direct translation. We re-uped on some of our best sellers and brought in a few new gizmos the likes of which the world has never seen. Some of these new products are liable blow you mind and melt your consciousness, so proceed with caution. If you look at these things too fast or attempt to comprehend them before you mind is ready, it’s likely that you will pass out and awake more mentally handicapped than Ozzy Osborne. Don’t let THIS happen to you.
Mammut SMART Belay Device - The name doesn’t lie; it just understates things a bit. They should have called this device the “FREAKING GENIUS DEVICE OF UNPARALLED INGENUITY AND FREE-THINKING” or the F.G.D.O.U.I.A.F.T. belay device, but I guess SMART just rolls of the tong a little easier. This device is lighter and lower profile than GriGri, and arguably safer too. The price is also pretty hard to beat.
Mammut BIONIC MYTHOS Locking Carabiner – This is another example of Mammut’s engineering brilliance. I think a better name for this one would have been “Mythical Marvel That Burns the Eye with Shear Beauty and Elegance”
Mammut ELEMENT WIREGATE Carabiner – Every other wire gate biner on the market wishes it could be more like the ELEMENT; except for the Wild Country Helium which is very comfortable with itself.
Mammut TRIPOD Helmet – Donny (our typically fearless leader) decided to bring this helmet in because he felt that was both radical and tubular. He also asserted the notion that people like anything with good ol’ Stompy on it. I would have to agree.
We also replenished our Mammut rope supply. Mammut ropes are second to none, except for maybe Blue Water, but that’s a matter of opinion. Here is what we got in:
-Mammut MATTERHORN 10.2MM SUPERDRY Rope (good for hang-dogging)
-Mammut GALAXY SUPER-DRY DUODESS 10MM Rope (good for everything)
-Mammut GENESIS 8.5MM SUPERDRY Rope (you need two of these)
-Mammut INFINITY 9.5MM SUPERDRY Rope (good for sending)
-Mammut SERENITY 8.9MM SUPERDRY Rope (if you can’t send with this rope you should probably give up)
Due the current economic climate, and Mammut’s commitment to “get this money” and “run this outdoor game”, almost all of their pricing has gone up. We do not hold this against them, and hope not to hear anyone saying otherwise.
