WEEK 8 (or somewhere around there):

Yes, Yes, I know my delayed entry has forced many of you to pull out that tattered handkerchief, wipe the tears from your eyes, and hope that one day your savior would return to once again bring you the opportunity to save…both yourself and money. Well, fear not. I have emerged from the mist and your money is once again in safe hands. I can do nothing for your soul however, this is not my responsibility. As we travel through this odd spring season (it seems spring and winter did not communicate correctly this year), I’m also slightly confused regarding our current season and your savings – I continually ponder if I should focus my attention on the reluctant Winter or the hopeful summer. It seems that soon the Metro Area will be pounded by a spring storm and all will be in chaos. Perhaps…Perhaps…I will wait and see. Nevertheless, I am through with Winter and its snowy ways. Damn you winter…Damn you to Hell!! I look forward to the warm days and cool nights, a nice backpacking trip to IndianPeaks, and plenty of willing trout. So come summer, come to us now in all your glory. “The summer wind, came blowing in, from across the sea.” Welcome to Summer.

Backpacking is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, get some exercise, eat some great food, and chill out with friends. I love hiking to a site early in the morning, setting up camp by mid-afternoon, catching a few fish before dinner, and then enjoying a great meal while causally sipping from a stainless steel flask. As the sun sets, the air becomes crisp as the fire and whiskey warms. The shooting stars which fill the sky signal the time for rest is near and with such, a mystical and memorable night comes to a close. Oh memories. Oh memories. Doesn’t a night like this seem nice? Well it’s easier than you think. The scenario I just described is yours to obtain…just one catch…go prepared. If I did not a have a solid and lightweight tent, a quality sleeping pad, or a warm and lofty down bag, not to mention a quick, high-burning stove to heat my treats, I doubt if my adventure would be nearly as memorable. So I now present you with a chance to get some great gear at a great price and an opportunity to create you own wonderful, lasting memories.

Original Price - $250.00         ON SALE - ONLY $179.95!!!!

“I came in from the wilderness, a creature void of form. Come in she said and let me give you ‘Shelter From the Storm.’” Shelter is an essential component to outdoor happiness and it can truly mean the difference between life and death. When not faced with such extremes, a nice shelter can certainly mean the difference between comfort and misery. The Electron RC by Sierra Designs will be your home away from home. While light enough to carry on an epic trip, the Electron will not split when times get tough – it is bombproof. Additionally, the accessory package really pulls the tent together – A footprint to provide your tent with a nice place to rest (and preserve its life), a gear attic for all those little necessities, and a coffee sling to make an easy transition into the next day. One will certainly not be disappointed by the Electron.

Original Price -$74.00            ON SALE - ONLY $35.00

If you have shelter, a great bag, but no sleeping pad, you might as well sleep naked in the Tundra surrounded by angry Artic wolves who long for the opportune moment to enjoy a tasty snack.  But seriously…A good sleeping pad does so much to keep you warm! Further, you’ll be able to sleep through the entire night without the rocks on the ground providing your back with a luscious massage. Sleeping pads are essential. If you meet some rugged old-timer who claims, “I don’t need no damn pad! The earth is all I need. S***, man been sleeping on the ground since the days he was in the Garden, eating this, eating that. But then his old lady wasn’t so comfy on the ground and tells this old boy, best get you some more knowledge so my lazy ass can rest on a nice bed. Well, he got his knowledge all right! Man forever kicked out just cause his damn lady didn’t want to sleep on the ground! Well, I sleep on the ground…and that’s that.” Ignore such lunacy – Pads are necessary. Sweat Dreams.

Original Price - $119.95         ON SALE – ONLY $119.95
Now I know what you’re thinking, “on sale…my ass! Don’t look like no sale to me!” Well…you are correct my friend, this item is not sale. But look, when it comes to food – to nourishment – to the energy that keeps the old motor running – your don’t want to be messing around with some old matches from the cocktail bar you frequented in the sixties. Matches, wet twigs, an angry female companion – does not sound like a recipe for success. Now imagine, a sweet mushroom risotto slowly simmered to perfection, combined with sautéed vegetables, maybe some fresh fish…maybe not (who could kill a poor little fish?). Anyhow, all this prepared in fifteen minutes as you sit surrounded by beauty. The JetBoil system is so easy to use. Can you screw in a light bulb? Well, if yes, you can operate a JetBoil. If not, you should not be in the wild – you may be tricked by raccoon – or worse, never come back. Screw in the gas, press the ignitor, and you’re off…Now pass that broiled possum…
